Do you have your "bucket list"? Life is too short to not have one and it is never to late to start. Welcome to my "bucket list" of "adventure" motorcycle rides from Alaska to Bear Tooth Pass to the North Shore of Lake Superior to Nova Scotia an many more locations. I'm Rob Keller from Bismarck, ND and I retired in 2008 from the North Dakota National Guard after 26 years. Motorcycling has been my favorite hobby and through my travel blog I want you to come along and enjoy the ride. Believe in your dreams and make them happen...

The following quote from Antoine Predock best explains why I love traveling on my bike and why each ride is ALWAYS special, "The connection to place, to the land, the wind, the sun, stars, the moon... it sounds romantic, but it's true - the visceral experience of motion, of moving through time on some amazing machine - a few cars touch on it, but not too many compared to motorcycles. I always felt that any motorcycle journey was special."

June 24, 2017 Thanks for reading my blog and going along on this journey... One week from today (July 1, 2017) we begin our epic adventure to Deadhorse, AK and the frigid Arctic Ocean. If you have recently “subscribed” to my travel blog, welcome. I am glad you are along for the ride, whether to explore new areas via the Internet or you are planning a motorcycle or car ride to our 49th state sometime in the future. I have received many emails and comments regarding the route, timeframe, planning and what we did to our BMW R1200 GS bikes to get ready for this journey. I will try and answer many of your questions as we progress north 4,000 miles to the Arctic Ocean. You will notice that I like to study and research areas ... read more

June 1, 2017 One month from today Jody Keller (my brother from Denver), Rusty Romans (a career Army Soldier) and myself will be departing Bismarck for a 30-day motorcycle adventure ride to the Arctic Ocean. We will end up taking a swim near Prudhoe Bay, AK and returning home! The motorcycle of choice is the BMW R1200 GSW. It’s a long distance “pack horse” that can literally take us around the world. The 30 day adventure will take us to Butte, MT, Going to the Sun Road in Glacier National Park, to Banff, AB and Dawson City, BC, which is the start of the 1,500 mile Alaskan Highway. We will end up in Fairbanks to put on knobby tires for the 500 mile gravel road north to Prudhoe Bay. We’ll pass the Arctic Circle on our ... read more

Evangel "Adventure" Ride To Duluth and the North Shore Eighteen motorcycle riders representing 12 bikes ranging from HD, BMW's, Honda GoldWings and Shadows to Kawasakis participated in the 2nd Annual EAG Motorcycle Adventure. Our route took us from Bismarck to Duluth's North Shore, International Falls, Warroad and finally home to Bismarck. Four days and over 1,200 miles. It’s always amazing to see how easy friendships form when riders gather. What a great group we had this year and I am excited to ride with these great men and women in the future. The annual trip is fast becoming an event that EAG motorcyclists are anticipating. Taking part in the EAG Adventure this year were: Cal and Carla Bender, Trent and Kari Christianson, Pastor Roger and Eide Will, Bruce and Sharon Walth, Jon Patch and his daughter ... read more

May 29-31, 2010 Peggy’s Cove Light House and Digby, NS After leaving the Cabot Trail I headed down to Halifax via Coastal Highway 316. The route took me through quaint Atlantic Ocean seaside fishing villages that probably don’t get many tourists. The skills of fishing have been handed down from generation to generation. It’s kind of like our family farms in the Midwest…trying to carve out a living but seeing large corporate farms buying up all the small family farms. Along the fishing villages, the fishermen were complaining about the price of their catch while large fishing “ships” are taking away their livelihood. Many will sell their boats when they retire as no family member wants to carry on the tradition. One cannot travel fast in Nova Scotia especially when traveling along the coast. The roads ... read more

Nova Scotia’s Cabot Trail May 27-29, 2010 I finally arrived at the destination that I had been planning for months. The picturesque Cabot Trail where the saying is, “Come for the drive…savour the journey.” I found the Cabot Trail to be one of the most beautiful scenic drives I have every been on considering the rainy weather, fog conditions and an occasional segment of “pure sunshine” that never hampered my delight in arriving here. But before I get to the Cabot Trail let me bring you up to speed since my last travel blog. Riding the St. Lawrence Seaway was great and I had several beautiful days of riding weather with lots of sunshine. I decided not to tour Quebec’s Gaspe Peninsula due to weather conditions and lots of predicted rain. The weather forecasters turned out ... read more

St. Lawrence Seaway May 25-26, 2010 Today’s blog will be about the St. Lawrence Seaway but first wanted to say the travel to Montreal was very scenic. I wanted to stop in Montreal but no one told me about the 2-hour traffic jam and just getting into the city would take 3-4 hours. Oh well. Montreal and Quebec are a vacation destination in an of themselves. Are you ready for some history? When I travel I do a little research into the area that I am going to visit. It is very worthwhile as it gives you a new perspective on what the people are like, their livelihood, and so much more. When we take a look at the history of the St. Lawrence Seaway, it is filled with lots of interesting “stuff”. It has a ... read more

NOVA SCOTIA DAY 3 & 4 (May 24 & 25, 2010) I am going to combine the next two days of travel because I was just putting miles on to get to my destination. Don’t get me wrong, the ride is awesome and the scenery is spectacular, however, the last two days the weather was great, the bike was operating at top speed and I just decided to push on past my evening check points. I have been averaging around 450 to 500 miles per day. On the way from Thunder Bay to Nipigon I had to put on my rain suit to stay dry. Not a heavy rain but one that is irritating and just enough to get you soaking wet. As you probably know, I am not a “fair weather” rider and actually welcome ... read more

NOVA SCOTIA DAY 2 (May 23, 2010) I had a refreshing time at the Traveler’s Campground. Rained pretty much all night so breaking camp in the morning was very wet. You have to pack it all on the bike wet and all. I was up at six and on the road at 7:00 am. One of my traveling traditions is to break camp early, ride for several hours and have a hearty breakfast to get me through the day. I usually don’t stop for lunch but I have a relaxing evening meal close to my daily destination. Today was a little different and I usually don’t do this, but I ate at a “fast food” A&W and had my ‘egg and ham “ sandwich. Remind myself not to do that again…I enjoy the “mom and pop” ... read more

Bismarck to Rugby to International Peace Gardens to Winnipeg I know my travel blog is getting a late start but you have to have WIFI to publish so here goes… A big thanks to JoLynn for planning my Nova Scotia “Send-Off”. We had many friends there and it was a great event. Honey, thanks for all your planning and special touches to make it special. I love you and here’s a great big “thank-you” across the miles. A little rain did not ruin the excitement. I had been planning the Nova Scotia ride for almost one year. Why Nova Scotia? Well, it’s hard to top the Alaskan Highway and 6,000 miles of beautiful mountain scenery. So, the Eastern part of Canada beckoned after researching the far East Provinces and Nova Scotia had a lot of things ... read more

Good morning fellow motorcycle riders and those who love to travel via my Travel Blog... For the past year I have been planning a motorcycle "adventure" ride to Nova Scotia. Many of you followed my 6,000 mile ride in 2008 riding from North Dakota to Alaska via the Alaskan Highway and returning via a ferry from Alaska to Washington. I completed that trip on my 2005 Honda Goldwing but due to some back problems, I had to switch to a lighter bike. The 2005 BMW R1200RT is my motorcycle of choice and allows me flexibility to travel in some "off road" conditions. This adventure will be just as exciting and I wanted to give you advance notice so that when you start to see email traffic arrive on your computer that you don't delete because you ... read more
